Jeff Lakey and West Li established LLG International as a landscape architecture and ecological urbanism/urban design practice emphasizing the interrelatedness of people and nature. The firm practices in the fields of:

Our goal is a world that is made like nature, out of respect for its living systems, its orderliness, and its people. We recognize that attaining sustainability means respecting the reciprocal relationships inherent in living systems. Our work therefore pursues wholeness and organized complexity that healthy systems express.

PRINCIPALS

Jeff Lakey graduated with a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard university Graduate School of Design (GSD), and with a BS in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Landscape Architecture from Oregon State University. He has held senior roles in several practices including Sasaki Associates in Boston, Child Associates in Cambridge, the Perron Collaborative in Portland, and RNL in Denver. Jeff has also worked in academic practice as a lecturer at the Harvard GSD, and also attained tenure with the landscape architecture faculty in the nationally ranked Colorado State University program. His public practice includes the conservation, planning and development superintendent position in the municipal parks system in Boulder, Colorado.  To better understand and apply concepts of form, meaning, and nature in his projects, Jeff has traveled extensively in Italy, France, England, the Middle East and the US, where he documented historic sites, cities, Renaissance villas and gardens, parks, streets and plazas.  He is a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and is registered as a landscape architect in Colorado, is CLARB certified and recently served on the Alumni Council of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.

West Li is an architecture graduate of Tsinghua University in Beijing and holds a Master of Urban Design from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He won scholarships and awards during his studies in both institutions for design excellence and scholarship in research-based design. West has worked as an Urban designer and architectural planner in the United States and China. He has served as and Urban Designer in the Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning & Design Institute, and has held key roles in international projects while engaged with RNL in the United States. Whether speaking his native Mandarin or fluent English, clients enjoy his passionate, easygoing, positive and organized character. His skill at listening compassionately to clients and responding to their business needs fosters a sense of service and professionalism among our clients and facilitates mutually rewarding long term working relationships.
